Video Directors RT! & Cazhhmere talk Hype Williams
June 13th, 2007With the 2007 MuchMusic Video Awards this week and video director RT! up for a bunch of them - RAPproject.tv thought it a good time to post this interview from the set of Choclair’s latest video single. Directed by Cazhhmere and featuring RT! we talked to the directors about working with hip-hop artists today, where they find inspiration, and the directors they admire. Urban video pioneer Hype Williams was an obvious source of inspiration for the directing pair and featured here is the Hype Williams directed “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See” by Busta Ryhmes. We wish RT! luck this weekend at the 2007 MuchMusic Video Awards.
Hard To Be Hip-Hop - Classified f/Maestro
June 11th, 2007
It’s been a big year for Canadian Hip-Hop videos. Point Blank’s “Born and Raised in the Ghetto” dropped to critical acclaim along with stellar work by K-os, Belly, and Classified helped raise the bar for Canadian Hip-Hop. One of our favorite videos of the year has got to be Classified’s “Hard to be Hip-Hop.” Class hooks up with Canadian legend Maestro to drop a track that seamlessly bridges the gap between old and new school. It’s good to see Classified and Maestro trade lines back and forth. Classified is currently crossing Canada on a national tour.
BELLY - Birthday Bash Interview
May 31st, 2007RAPproject.tv partied with Belly a few weeks back as he celebrated his birthday. And what better gift for Belly to get — then finding out his lead single, “Pressure” from the upcoming Revolution album, hit #1 on the MuchMusic video chart. Look for Belly at the upcoming MuchMusic Video Awards June 17th where he’s up for a bunch of awards. Belly talked to RAPproject.tv about first gettin’ in the rap game, the tour with Snoop and Cube, and still-to-be-revealed details about his U.S. record deal. When RAPproject.tv was finished with the questions, BIG APPLE was there to jump in and help on the interview. Belly’s debut disc, The Revolution, drops June 5th. Propelled by a #1 single, will an emcee from Canada finally claim some Superstar clout?
Classic Video - Wu-Tang Clan
May 25th, 2007We recently interviewed the Stolen From Africa crew. When speaking about the artists and videos that inspired them - Wu-Tang quickly came to mind. Unknown Mizery & Logikal Ethix shout out the week’s RAPproject.tv Classic Video Pick - Wu-Tang Clan’s “Can it be all so simple.”
Enjoy.
